Over 30,000 citizens have won a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship since its establishment in 1959, with the UK government providing 28,500 through the Commonwealth Scholarship Board in the United Kingdom (CSC). The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is funded by the United Kingdom’s government and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Eligibility for Scholarship:

To be qualified for these scholarships, you must have been awarded refugee status by a Commonwealth country that qualifies. 

  • Students must be a permanent resident of a Commonwealth country.
  • All students must have a relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a master’s degree.
  • An applicant must be a registered citizen in a Commonwealth nation. 
  • By September/October 2026, you must be ready to begin your academic studies in the UK. 
  • a second-class degree and a relevant graduate qualification. 
  • The applicants have never studied in another European country.

  • The potential effect of the study on the country of origin of the applicant

Required Documents for Scholarship:

  • Transcripts of Bachelor’s Degrees are necessary for Master’s Degrees. 
  • For Foreign Students, a Passport is required. 
  • a short resume or curriculum vitae 
  • A motivational letter or a statement of intent (a text that describes why you want to do something)  
  • Study Plan for a Master’s Thesis. 
  • There are two letters of recommendation required. 
  • Certificate in English Competence from the previous institute.
